The Breda Community Fire Department is 100% staffed by volunteers. The fire department consists of 26 members, all of whom are trained to the Fire Fighter 1 standards as set forth by NFPA. There are members who are trained to the Fire Fighter 2 and Instructor 1 level as well. The department trains every second and third Monday as well as other special trainings throughout the year. The department averages over 35 calls per year and services more than 700 people in Breda and the surrounding areas. The department has one station equipped with four apparatus - two engines, one quick attack unit, and one tanker/pumper.
The Breda area is fortunate to have a paramedic-staffed ambulance service originate from the city. These local EMS volunteers work under the direction of the Carroll County Ambulance Department and provide quick service in the event of an emergency.
